Benefits of Montessori Education
Montessori Philosophy
The Montessori Approach to education teaches your child independence and self-motivated growth.
Stimulating Environment
We prepare rich indoor and outdoor environments where your child can explore and learn with sight, sound, taste, smell and touch.
Fostering Independence
Our teachers observe and guide your child, when necessary, to different activities to ensure that they’re exposed to all areas of the curriculum.
Daily Routine
Our routine gives our students a sense of security and stability. There’s time for learning, playing, outdoor exploration, meals and rest.
Diverse Curriculum
Our activities include language, math, reading, art, music, French, yoga, and gymnastics.
Life Skills
We help our children model good manners and polite behaviour, including environmental awareness and empathy for others.
Preschool / Casa
(3-6 years)
Our Preschool Education or Casa Program allows children to take ownership of their education. Our teachers guide learning and introduce new lessons and levels of difficulty as appropriate.
We offer five areas of study: Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Languages and Cultural Studies.
Activities Include
· Practical Life: Children learn daily life skills like getting dressed, preparing snacks, setting the table, and caring for plants. They learn about appropriate social interactions, manners and kindness. Practical Life also promotes independence and fine and gross motor coordination.
· Sensorial: Children refine skills in perceiving the world through the five senses and learn how to describe and name their experiences. Sensorial learning aids in classifying their surroundings and creates order.
· Math: Children learn to identify numerals and match them to quantity. They also understand basic mathematical concepts and explore patterns within the numbering system.
· Language (English and French): Children participate in activities that help them acquire vocabulary and develop the necessary skills for reading and writing. Children learn letter-sound and how to combine sounds to make words. They also learn how to build sentences and how to use a pencil. By learning a second language, the children boost their problem solving and critical thinking skills as well as improving concentration and memory.
· Cultural Studies: Children are taught a wide range of subjects including history, geography, science, music and art. All these subjects are integrated into lessons where they learn about their own community and the world around them. Discovering similarities and differences helps children develop an understanding and appreciation for the diversity of our world and respect for all living things.
